Rare Global Food began as a college thesis sparked by a simple question: why does hunger persist in the Philippines despite abundant food production? Early research revealed that the problem wasn’t a lack of food, it was inefficiencies in the supply chain. Food loss, inconsistent access, and gaps between producers and buyers meant that food often failed to reach its full potential.
What started as an academic project quickly evolved into a business built to solve this critical issue. We saw a fragmented food industry where quality ingredients existed but businesses struggled with unreliable supply, inconsistent standards, and operational inefficiencies that drove up costs. Our mission became clear: to bridge this gap by creating a centralized, reliable distribution platform that delivers consistent quality, dependable service, and simpler sourcing for our customers.
The early days were not without challenges. Building a consistent supply chain in a market with varying quality standards was tough. Extending credit to clients while maintaining healthy cash flow required careful discipline. Operationally, assembling the full supply chain from sourcing and cold storage to logistics and quality control—took time and persistence. Trust, both from suppliers and customers, had to be earned through transparency and reliable execution.
The turning point came when our retail business caught the attention of restaurant owners. Flyers we distributed reached the right kitchens, and purchasing teams recognized that we could provide the specific cuts and products they needed. That moment validated our model and marked our transition into a scalable B2B food distribution partner.
Since then, Rare Global Food has grown significantly. We have served over 18,000 food establishments nationwide, including restaurants, hotels, commissaries, and food processors. We deliver approximately 11 million kilograms of meat annually, operate a platform supplying both proteins and vegetables, and maintain a multi-warehouse, cold-chain-enabled supply network. Long-term partnerships with local and international suppliers have enabled us to scale from a retail startup into a trusted B2B food distribution company.
Looking ahead, our vision remains clear: to strengthen food security by making food more convenient, accessible, and reliable, so that businesses can focus on growth while communities benefit from a stronger, more resilient food system. Rare Global Food isn’t just about moving food—it’s about transforming how it reaches people, ensuring that quality ingredients are always within reach.
